Programs
TWIN CITIES YOUTH ROWING provides programming year-round in competitive crew as well as offering Learn to Row classes and recreational rowing camps for youth.  Additionally, adult recreational programs include Learn 2 Row and conditioning classes on ergometers.  Programs are run by coaches who are passionate about rowing and who are especially devoted to working with youth   Crew is a sport in which teamwork is everything and the rowers quickly learn that there are no individual stars- everyone has an important role to play.

Three River's Park has welcomed TCYR to use Bryant Lake for its on-the-water training site, conveniently located in northeast Eden Prairie.  The park offers many useful resources for TCYR, including beautiful grounds for land training, an expansive dock for to accommodate rowing shells, safety park patrols, ample parking, restrooms, concessions and a swimming beach.

Safety is a high priority for TCYR.  Individual personal floatation devices (PFD's) are provided and are required for all rowers to wear while practicing on Bryant Lake.

YOUTH COMPETITIVE PROGRAM
The Competitive program offers crew for high-school youth from schools all over the metro area to train and have fun in a team atmosphere.  Girls and boys row in 4 and 8 person shells (each boat also holds a   coxswain, too) and the team races in local and regional regattas.  The competitive program is offered year-round (although many students can commit to only 2 or 3 seasons).  Learn To Row clinics are held in the summer and fall for students that want to try rowing before joining the team.  If the student wants to continue rowing with TCYR, they register as novices and become Varsity rowers after 1 year of rowing.  Please click on Youth Competitive Program to discover more.

YOUTH CAMPS
TCYR also offers two Recreational Camp programs for youth. The Jr. High camp, gROWth Camp, is available for students in 7th and 8th grade (those who have completed 6th grade), who want a rowing experience in the summer and are too young to join the competitive team.  The gROWth camp has 3 sessions in 2010; each session is a one week/5 day experience.

The other recreational program offered for youth is High School Rowing Camp.  Rowing Camp is ideal for high school students who’d like to try a new sport, rowing, but are not interested in competition or  they don't have the time to commit to the team.  High School Rowing Camp is held in August.  Please click on Youth Camps to learn more.

ADULT RECREATIONAL PROGRAMS
TCYR does offer limited educational and conditioning programming to adults.  Please click on Adult Programs to see our class offerings in greater detail.

Options include an indoor Erg-fit Classes (multiple 4 week sessions), a six-lesson Adult Learn To Row at Bryant Lake, or, for women, a Women whO roW (WOW) class.  Private Corporate programs in team-building are also available.  Please contact Cathy Dien, Program Chair, at cdien@hotmail.com to inquire about corporate program availability.
