Twin Cities Youth Rowing (TCYR) is organized for the sole purpose of educating young men and young women 18 years old and younger in the sport of rowing in an organized, challenging, competitive, and safe rowing environment. Learn To Row (L2R) sessions are held in the Summer and Fall for those that have an interest in rowing. Participants get a true understanding for what rowing is all about, hear directly from our experienced coaching staff and view/touch/row “racing” boats. This is an optional class for any participant who wishes to join TCYR.
Summer L2R Sessions: Session 1: Sunday, June 3, 2012 from 1:00 - 3:00 pm Session 2: Monday, June 4, 2012 from 4:15 - 6:15 pm
TCYR’s Jr. High gROWth Camp is available for students entering 7th and 8th grades in the fall of 2012. This program offers those who want a rowing experience but are too young to join the competitive team. Students will learn the fundamentals of sweep rowing on Bryant Lake Regional Park (6800 Rowland Avenue, Eden Prairie, MN) and will participate in dry land fitness training. Participants must be physically fit and able to swim. Jr. High gROWth camp offers 2 sessions in 2012; each session is a one week/5 day experience.
Session 1: June 25 - 29, 2012 Monday – Friday 9:30 – 11:30 am Session 2: July 16 - 20, 2012 Monday – Friday 9:30 – 11:30 am
TCYR is pleased to offer our “Adult Learn 2 Row” (AL2R) program this summer. Our AL2R class is designed for any adult who wants to try sweep rowing. Learn about rowing technique while on the water in an 8 person “shell” in a fun and motivating way. Water and boat safety, rowing vocabulary and overall fitness are incorporated. Experienced coaches challenge you in a fun way. There are 6 classes, each 90 minutes in length. Participants must be physically fit and able to swim, no rowing experience is necessary.
