The Novice Team is the entry point into the Twin Cities Youth Rowing competitive pathway for athletes new to the sport of rowing. Open to high school athletes of all grade levels and 8th graders (upon coach’s evaluation), the novice program builds the essential skills, fitness, and understanding needed to become successful rowers. Through six practices each week, athletes develop proper technique, learn the fundamentals of racing, and gain the confidence and discipline needed to progress toward varsity-level competition. The focus is on building a strong foundation while fostering a positive team culture centered on growth, teamwork, and a love for the sport.
