Building exceptional athletes. Creating extraordinary people.

Twin Cities Youth Rowing Club (TCYRC) is dedicated to developing exceptional athletes and outstanding young people through the sport of rowing. Serving middle and high school students across the Twin Cities metro, our program challenges athletes to pursue excellence while building resilience, discipline, accountability, and confidence that extends far beyond the boathouse.

Rowing is one of the world's most demanding team sports, requiring technical precision, physical toughness, and unwavering commitment to your crew. At TCYRC, we combine high-level coaching with a supportive, athlete-centered environment that emphasizes long-term development, teamwork, and a love of continuous improvement.

Whether an athlete is picking up an oar for the first time or pursuing regional and national competition, TCYRC provides the coaching, training environment, and community to help every rower reach their full potential—both on the water and in life.

Our high school programs

VARSITY ROWING

The Varsity Team is Twin Cities Youth Rowing's premier high-performance training group for athletes committed to maximizing their potential. Training six days a week, varsity rowers develop exceptional technical skill, physical fitness, and competitive resilience while pursuing excellence on and off the water. Athletes compete at local, regional, and national regattas, embracing a culture of discipline, accountability, and continuous improvement. The program prepares dedicated rowers to perform at the highest levels of junior rowing and provides a strong foundation for collegiate competition.

NOVICE (FIRST YEAR) ROWING

The Novice Team is the entry point into the Twin Cities Youth Rowing competitive pathway for athletes new to the sport of rowing. Open to high school athletes of all grade levels and 8th graders (upon coach’s evaluation), the novice program builds the essential skills, fitness, and understanding needed to become successful rowers. Through six practices each week, athletes develop proper technique, learn the fundamentals of racing, and gain the confidence and discipline needed to progress toward varsity-level competition. The focus is on building a strong foundation while fostering a positive team culture centered on growth, teamwork, and a love for the sport.

Develop Exceptional Athletes

We are committed to developing complete athletes through world-class coaching, technical mastery, and purposeful training. Our goal is to help every rower reach their full potential while building a program capable of competing with the best in the Midwest and earning opportunities to race on the national stage.

Build Leaders for Life

The lessons learned in rowing extend far beyond the finish line. Through accountability, resilience, teamwork, and leadership, we prepare our athletes to succeed in the classroom, in their communities, and in whatever path they pursue after rowing.

Academics Come First

Student-athletes are students first. We encourage our athletes to pursue excellence both academically and athletically by developing the discipline, time management, and habits necessary to thrive in school while competing at a high level.

Create One Team

Our culture is built on the belief that everyone contributes to the success of the program. Athletes of all experience levels train together with a shared commitment to supporting one another, celebrating growth, and creating a positive environment where everyone belongs.

Grow the Sport

We believe rowing should be accessible to every young person with the desire to learn. Through outreach, Learn-to-Row programs, camps, and financial assistance opportunities, we strive to expand access to the sport and strengthen the rowing community throughout the Twin Cities.

Pursue Continuous Improvement

We measure success by the daily pursuit of excellence. Every practice, race, and challenge is an opportunity to improve our technique, strengthen our mindset, and move one step closer to becoming the best version of ourselves as athletes, teammates, and people.

THE TCYRC DIFFERENCE

Prepared for the Next Level

Whether an athlete's next step is collegiate rowing, another sport, or a career beyond athletics, TCYRC provides the technical foundation, physical preparation, and competitive experience to help them pursue their goals with confidence. As our program grows, we are committed to building strong relationships with collegiate coaches and creating opportunities for athletes to compete at the next level.

Guidance Through the Recruiting Process

The collegiate recruiting process can be complex, but TCYRC provides athletes and families with the knowledge, preparation, and support needed to navigate each step with confidence. Our Head Coach brings experience as a former collegiate recruiting coach and head coach, providing valuable insight into what college programs look for in prospective student-athletes.

Through individualized goal setting, performance development, academic planning, and meaningful connections with collegiate coaches, we help athletes identify opportunities that align with their academic, athletic, and personal goals. Our focus is not simply on finding a roster spot—it is on helping each athlete find the right program and prepare to succeed at the next level.

Leaders On and Off the Water

Our greatest measure of success is not medals alone; it is the people our athletes become. Through rowing, athletes learn resilience, accountability, discipline, teamwork, and leadership while developing the confidence to embrace challenges, support others, and pursue excellence in every aspect of life.

A Lifelong Community

TCYRC is more than a team; it's a community. We strive to create an environment where athletes, families, alumni, and coaches remain connected through a shared passion for rowing and a commitment to supporting one another long after their competitive careers have ended.

A Passion for Continuous Growth

The habits developed through rowing extend far beyond the boathouse. Our athletes leave with an appreciation for hard work, a commitment to lifelong learning, and the understanding that meaningful success is built through consistent effort, purposeful practice, and shared accountability.
