Volunteers Are the Backbone of Our Rowing Community

A great rowing program takes more than coaches and athletes. It takes a community. From keeping equipment in working order and supporting athlete safety to helping run regattas, volunteers make it possible for Twin Cities Youth Rowing Club to provide a meaningful, competitive, and safe experience for our athletes. Whether you have rowing experience or have never stepped foot in a shell, there is a place for you at TCYRC.

Why Volunteering Matters

Build the Program
As a youth nonprofit, TCYRC depends on the time, energy, and talents of our community. Volunteers help us keep costs manageable while allowing more resources to go directly toward athletes and coaching.

Keep Athletes Safe
Safety is everyone's responsibility. Volunteers support coaches and staff with equipment checks, launch and dock operations, athlete supervision, and other important safety responsibilities.

Make Racing Possible
Regattas are powered by volunteers. From launching boats to timing races, dozens of people are needed behind the scenes to make race day happen.

Build Community
Volunteering is one of the best ways for families and friends to become part of the TCYRC community. You don't have to row to belong here.

Find Your Place on the Team

There are many ways to contribute, and you don't need to be an expert to get started.

Behind the Scenes

  • Equipment maintenance

  • Trailer driving to/from regattas

  • Fundraising

  • Communications and photography

  • Recruitment and community outreach

  • Team events: breakfasts, celebrations, and other activities that bring our athletes and families together

No Experience? No Problem.

You don't need to know how to row to volunteer. Many volunteer roles require only a willingness to show up, learn, and help. For specialized positions such as safety boat driving or certain regatta roles, TCYRC will provide guidance and identify any required training or certifications. Your time, skills, and enthusiasm can make a difference.
